Edward Scissorhands Costume

We dressed our daughter, who is 3 years old, as Edward Scissorhands. Our idea for the costume sprouted from our love of Tim Burton characters. The costume is homemade. We used a girl’s black polo shirt with the collar popped, black stretch pants, tennis shoes, and black cotton gloves. We decorated the shirt and pants with strips of black electrical tape over duct tape with silver accents made with aluminum foil tape. We cut 8 scissor arms out of cardboard, wrapped them with foil tape, poked a hole through each of them and clasped each pair together using a metal envelope clasp. We then sewed two pairs of scissors to the top of each glove. We didn’t have black shoes so we covered her regular tennis shoes with electrical tape. We accessorize with a belt on her waist and another on her leg. For her makeup we used white powder, black eye shadow and black lipliner. The costume costed about $10.
