Day of the Dead Couples Costumes

Our costumes are homemade. I did my husband’s and my own makeup, all I used was a very light foundation and then a setting powder, liquid eyeliner for the outline and some eye shadow I already had for the coloring. For my husband's costume, we used a suit he already had. For the skeleton rib cage I got a black shirt and used a pattern that I found on Martha Stewarts website, and with a rotary cutter cut out the rib cage, then he wore a white t-shirt under the black shirt, to give the appearance of a skeleton rib cage . My husband also wore a bowler hat which I just add a few silk flowers to, by sewing them to an elastic headband to slide over the hat to sit on the brim. He also wore skeleton gloves...For my costume I sewed several silk roses onto the neckline of a spaghetti strap shirt I had. For my long gloves I took a pair of knee high black socks, which I cut the toe section off and cut an extra hole for my thumb. I then sewed a few silk roses to the top of the glove’s that goes around the top of the arm. For my hair, I sewed three roses to a headband. I wore black tights and also a sash made from a length of made to look old fabric that I bought from a local Halloween store...All in all it cost $30.00, and we got two costumes out of it :)
