This homemade costume for couples entered our 2018 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Heather, the 'Day of the Dead' costume creator:

This is my hand designed , created and painted Day of the Dead costume . I wore a red corset and steam punk style skirt with a lace saw and black wig and accessorized with roses. I hand painted my face chest and arms which took over 4 hours . I focused on detail in my painting . I added roses and rosary beads to my face .I hand painted my baby doll to coordinate with my costume . I dyed her hair black to match mine and swaddled her in black lace to coordinate .My husband wore all black with a brocade black vest and red silk tie. I accessorized a plain black hat into what you see pictured with skulls , bones and feathers . I added replace ribbon to his pant seams .I hand painted his face and head which took about 1.5 hours. I painted roses on his head to stay hidden under his hat until the finals of the costume contest we entered . The top two costumes were called up on stage ( one of them being our costumes) When our costume was introduced my husband bowed to the crowd and removed his hat revealing the roses all over his head .Its not just about creating the costume , its also playing the part of your costume! The crowd went wild for us ! We won the costume contest at the House of Blues in Cleveland . My costume took hours to deign and create . I hope you enjoy and appreciate the detail in the artwork ! Zoom in , check it out and be inspired ! Happy Halloween !
