A word from Jerry, the 'Cyborg SpongeBob' costume creator:

Cyborg SpongeBob was inspired by my six year old nephew Joel and a friend who made a cyborg panda last year. Joel love's SpongeBob so much we refer to burgers as Krabby Patties at our house to ensure he will be eating it. Joel also adopted many of SpongeBob's catchphrases like barnacles and his laugh. So I decided last year I was going to save the box and make some kind of SpongeBob. At first I didn't know know how I was going to make it but I knew I wanted to make SpongeBob more original.
I did a Google Search and I found a cool picture and I thought I could recreate it. So I started with a little bit of white paint for a base. Then I spray painted it yellow. I didn't have yellow spray paint exactly but it so happens my mother-in-law had some yellow spray paint made to paint the the road lines and other supplies that were needed. So she invited us over for a weekend and we took apart a VCR found a headlamp some silver paint and we went from there and it kind of just came alive. It was about a 3-day process between coats. At least three layers of paint and a couple bolts to make it look like sponge came off the side of his head. The eye which is kind of funny is paper plate painted blue what the black pupil and the cyborg eye is a bra pad. It worked out perfect we didn't have anything else until one of the girls helping me said hey this might work. Sure enough it did. The tricky part was transporting this thing across town. We manage to get him home safely and put some minor touch-ups. I also added small wires to the top of his head and the side to make it look like he was kind of falling apart. In addition seared a small hole into the cyborg eye and cut a circle inside the box. Joel will wear a headlamp that has a red light to light up the costume Cyborg eye. Everyone loves it. The awesome thing is this whole costume only costed us about a dollar and It was because we had to buy the socks. I hope you guys enjoy. Thank you and Happy Halloween!
