A word from Rita, the 'Cotton Candy' costume creator:

Cotton Candy and the Seller

I used a plain t-shirt (pink), then glued on Poly-fil using adhesive spray. Adding layers for desire puffiness. To color the cotton I used Design Master Colortool Spray in Perfect Pink (This is a delicate spray that can be used for flowers, so it helps with not damping the cotton, and also gives it a softer pink look). As for my boyfriend, I got a cardboard box and decorated with small cones, filling them up with the same poly-fil material I used for my costume.

Hi! Looks amazing- I'm attempting to recreate- a couple of questions- What size shirt did you go with to put the poly fil on? Also, when you used the adhesive, did you put parchment paper inside the shirt Incase it bled inside? Did you paint the poly fil before or after you glued it on? I'm not super crafty.. thanks so much!

Hi Anastasja! I used a size Large t-shirt (pink) that I bought at AC Moore. I typically used a small, but I wanted it to fit a bit longer. I did not use any parchment paper. I glued the cotton straight onto the shirt using adhesive spray. I painted the shirt once all the cotton was on it with pink spray (the spray has to be the ones that are used to paint flowers as it is more delicate and won't ruin the cotton).

Hi
How did you make the hairpiece?

Hi Dawn!
I used a beanie hat and just glued the cotton onto it using the same process as the body part. I hope this helps :)

How many cans of spray paint did it take for your shirt and headpiece?
