Zombie Charlie Chaplin Costume

This is a costume I made for my husband Jon a few years ago. It's still one of my all time favorite costumes.

I bought the suit from Goodwill and it was about $15. Then I took it home and the fun began. I beat it with a bat, buried it in the backyard, set it on fire and ran over it with the car a few times. I have used this method on other zombie costumes and it's the best. It's fun ( but the neighbors Re used to it now lol) It sounds absolutely insane, but it really gives it a fresh out of the grave look.

Then smeared on some mixed acrylic paint, like dark greens, browns and grey. I really liked the idea of him coming out of a dusty old mausoleum, so I glued on cobwebs and cornstarch.
Everytime he'd pat himself down, a puff of startch would come off and it looked absolutely hilarious!!
I covered the bowler hat the same way and to get the classic Charlie shoe, I bought some old black shoes from a thrift store and duct taped the heck out of them on the front, stuffed with newspaper, then painted black. The shoes held up great and I still have them in the closet. Other people have borrowed the costume and they still held together well.
I did the face makeup on my husband as well, and it held up great. I use Mehron and Ben Nye.
