A word from Janyce, the 'Viking Girl' costume creator:
I am dressed as a Viking as it was an idea I got from a Viking theme dragon boating event I had attended! I wore a black pleather skirt which I cut the bottom off into v shapes for a tattered look! I found a black tank top with brown underlay which suited the theme perfectly! (Both items were bought at a thrift store). I also found a brown faux fur short jacket which I cut up for my shoulder/neck piece, my wrist pieces and ankle pieces! I used leather like shoelaces to wrap fur around my wrists and ankles tying them up with a crisscrossing formation! The shoulder piece I cut to fit around the back of my shoulders and attached the leather laces and tied it around neck like a cape! I also cut strips of the fur and attached them to the waist of my skirt(two larger pieces for front and back, and two smaller ones for hips! I wore black sandals and my hair in braids! The hat was crotcheted by a friend and the sword and bow and arrows were props lent to me by another friend!! (Could be purchased in a toy store for cheap),
Costume was simple to put together with time spent looking for right clothing attire to use for costume! Very cheap and fun!
