A word from Brian, the 'USPS Mailbox' costume creator:

My son Tyler, age 10, wanted to be a mailbox this year. It's made out of foam board, cardboard, a bungee harness on the inside, a lot of glue and a lot of paint.

Do you have instructions or plans for this costume? My son wants to be a mailbox this year. Your version of the costume is the best I've seen. Thank you.

Unfortunately, I don't have any plans. Every year I just pretty much "Wing It". Sorry :(

Do you still have the mailbox costume?

#4 comment by Brian October 14, 2014

Yep, still got it. Our basement is starting to look like a movie prop warehouse with all these past costumes.

May I ask where did you get the stickers for the costume?

I made those. I think I just searched for USPS logo as a vector image in google. Vector formats allow you to blow it up to any size without losing resolution. Just did that, blew it up and printed out on 2 sheets of photo paper then combined those to about an 11" x 11" image for each side. Then just stuck them on with double sided tape.

Brian, I've got all the supplies to build the mailbox costume. My only question is how you made the bungee harness on the inside. Would it be possible for you to email me a picture of that part? Thank you!
