This homemade costume for pets entered our 2015 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Donna, the 'Uncle Sam' costume creator:
My Uncle Sam- red, white and blue, stars and stripes costume, and limo was created for election time.
The Presidential limo was made from a 5 gallon bucket. A piece of wood and wheels were added to the bottom using screws. And Chicken wire was added to the bottom to form the skirt bottom. The bucket was then covered with old pillows for mass and then covered with red and white striped material to represent the flag. Doll making hair and hat was add at top, to make it appear to be a little girl. And to finish it off, I added a blue star belt around the waist. A white collar with lace was added along with a ruffle at bottom hem. Pvc pipe and fittings were used for handle and umbrella stand.
The umbrella was purchased, and a fashion doll from the dollar store was used for the canopy top. The legs were removed from the doll and glued to the top of umbrella and then recovered with the same material used for bucket. I added lace, pearls, ribbon, different trims, greens and a flag were added to complete.
Tequila’s hat was made from cardboard and covered with the red and white striped material.
Doll glasses were used to accent costume.
No patterns were used for wagon, umbrella or costume, only imagination and lots of trial and changes.
It draws attention when out walking
