A word from Nicole, the 'The Music Meister' costume creator:

My little brother approached me a couple of years ago requesting a Halloween costume based off of a rather obscure Batman villain called, "The Music Meister," from the animated show, Batman: the Brave and the Bold. Obviously I wasn't going to find this costume in stores so I got to work.

The only store-purchased pieces were the gloves and the shoes. The purple suit was hand-made from scratch by my grandmother who possesses much more refined sewing/tailoring skills than I do, but I hand-made every other element of the costume.

The bow tie, the spats, the sleeve cuffs, and the music notes on the torso were entirely made of duct tape. The glasses were made by gluing a small piece of poster board to a pair of dollar-store sunglasses (so he could still see), and decorated with sharpie. The hat was made by joining together and reshaping the brim of 2 cheap children's witch hats and a plastic fedora, and covering the whole thing in duct tape. Those cheap witch hats came with the synthetic orange hair attached, so I removed the hair from both hats, and re-sewed them to the inside of the new hat, doubled-up for more thickness. I wet the hair, let it sit in foam rollers to dry, then held it in place with an insane amount of super hold hairspray.

The staff presented the greatest challenge for me. I ended up using a long wooden rod as a base, and gluing battery-operated purple Christmas lights around the outside of 3 foam circles. I used a combination of hot glue, duct tape, silver spray paint and prayer to keep it all together as one unified piece. It ended up working out really, really well. And I know he enjoyed the light-up element of his prop when he was out trick-or-treating!

There was definitely no one else out that night wearing the same costume!!!
