This homemade costume for girls entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Shelly, the 'Struts from Teen Beach Movie' costume creator:

My 8 yr. old daughter Paiton is wearing this costume we put together based off of the Disneys Teen Beach Movie. She got the idea after watching the movie over and over again and really thought Struts would be a fun character.

All you need is a fine tooth comb for teasing the crown of the head, lots of aerosol hairspray, bobby pins, decorative flower clip, scarfs for neck, bright red lipstick, and make-up of choice, a black jacket or sweater with a red or pink shirt underneath, blue jeans and black boots. We added an extra touch of cat eye glasses to give it a true 1960's feel.

Teasing the hair is the most time consuming part of the costume, but if you do it in small segments and then tease it all together at the end it seems to work quite nicely.

I could never get my hair to look like this no matter how hard I tried. She's a cute "Struts" for sure!

Not enough people realise how good TBM is and it often gets overlooked, a very good effort and similar to the character in question.
