A word from Bonnie and Beth, the 'Sparkly Ice Phoenixes' costume creators:

We created our costumes as a twist on the classic fiery phoenix that rises from the ashes. We instead were Ice Phoenixes, which get their power from the ice. We created the shirts by gluing on feather shapes cut out of shiny silver and blue fabric. We made enough of them and glued them on to cover the entire shirt. We then glued mirror pieces and crystal jewels onto each feather. We also outlined the feathers in silver and blue glitter. Our headpieces were made onto a foam cap with blue and white ostrich feathers, and other jewels and accessories. The cap was decorated with sequins, jewels, and glitter. We had large white wings, which we decorated with blue feathers, mirror pieces, and icy craft picks. We also wired the wings so they would light up. We wore tutus made of feather-like shapes, which were also wired to light up. We then made tail feathers by sandwiching heavy gauge wire between very long strips of silver fabric, with either a blue or white feather glued onto the end of each one. We attached these underneath the tutus and bent them, so they would flare out around us. We wanted to look like we had bird legs and talons instead of human legs, so we blacked out our real legs with black pants, and made bird legs with talons out of shiny gold fabric. We wore gold gloves on on our hands to be talons as well. We added sparkly blue nails made out of artificial nails on all of them. Finally, we did our faces with silver and blue makeup, and lots of jewels and glitter. We wore shiny gold beaks.
