Space Shuttle Costume

This is my 8 yo son. He has known for the last year that he wanted to be a space shuttle this year. He and I researched other shuttle costumes and he didn't like any of them. He wanted it to look as authentic as possible to an actual shuttle. We cut out 1 1/2 inch foam board to the basic wing shape and used a concrete setting tube as the body. Cut about 3 inches out of the tube to be able to bend it enough to allow him to fit inside. I used foamboard glue to attach the two. I used a dremel to make all the detail cuts. Black & white duct tape and black electrical tape were used in the detailing. There are shoulder straps on the inside made of belting to hold it up. The mechanical arm on the inside was made with erector sets.
