Rose Quartz Costume

Rose Quartz is the leader of the Crystal Gems, from the popular Cartoon Network animated show Steven Universe. Rose, the mother of the protagonist, is a strong, compassionate, and self-less character who's primary goal is to protect her friend and the Earth from any and all harm.

With powers primarily based on defense and healing, Rose's shield is able to protect the vulnerable. As the leader of the Rebellion against her Homeworld, Rose's battle-flag inspires other to take up the fight to protect all life on Earth.

Now onto the costume itself, the costume in total cost me about $150. The shield and flag itself (not the flagpole) are officially licensed products on the Cartoon Network website. The dress i constructed out of a white petticoat and a mixture of pink and purple liquid-dyes. The shirt is a normal white tank-top, in which I painted a beige star and glued a pink gem onto the naval. For the hair and makeup, I purchased a pink curly wig and pink eyelash extensions to try to depict the character in the most accurate terms. Finally, for the flag, I painted a pvc pipe pink and drilled holes to allow wire to attach to the flag. The top of the pole is adorned with a pink foam rose (flower).
