A word from Justine, the 'Queen of Hearts' costume creator:
I made this costume because I have a love for Tim Burton themed movies. The top is an old corset found at the thrift shop ($5), which I painted with gold paint. There is a long sleeve shirt underneath with some ribbon painted red and sewed on ($2). I took a collared shirt and attached pieces of cardboard to make it stick out (was an old shirt in my closet, no cost). The poofy shoulders are made from random pieces of fabric I had around the house, sewn together around an elastic band. The skirt is made from an old red drape ($2). Around it is a spider table cloth from the dollar store sewn at the top ($1). The hearts are cut out of foam, painted with gold inner hearts and secured on the costume with safety pins ($2). The wig is just a regular wig picked up at the local thrift shop ($5). The hat is an old St. Patty's mini hat that I glued cardboard to and painted gold. Complete the ensemble with some face make up and voila, the Queen of Hearts, Tim Burton style for under $20!
