This homemade costume for couples entered our 2012 Halloween Costume Contest.
My husband and I put this together for a party. He is wearing a robe that we got at Goodwill, but my costume is my own creation. I took a couple of curtains and dyed them with forest green RIT dye, as well as a skirt that I had bought at a consignment store. We draped the curtains around me so that it would look like her dress. I also dyed a pair of tube socks so that I could wear sandals to look more authentic. The crown was made from a foam visor and pieces of foam that I cut out and glued on. The torch is made from a paper mache cone, and I added the tissue paper and a flashlight inside so that it would light up. I couldn't figure out how to get the knife to stick out, so I zip tied it to a pencil and stuck it in my bra. It worked! Green makeup and turquoise hair spray finished the costume. We wrote POLITICS in Sharpie on my husband's scythe.
