A word from Kayla, the 'Oscar the Grouch' costume creator:
My daughter Charlotte loves Elmo and she decided that is what she wanted to be for Halloween. We thought it would be cute if Sadie, our younger daughter, was Oscar the Grouch. I couldn't find any costumes though. So we decided to make our own. I asked my Mom to help with the Oscar body suit since I don't know how to sew. She bought green and brown fabric (brown for the eyebrows) and white foam balls with black button for the eyes. She sewed it together for us. It has a zipper in the front to get Miss Sadie in and out of it. My husband and I took a metal can we had and put a cardboard sign, tied on a string, and wrote "scram" on it and hung it on the can. We then hung an old banana pill on the side. And tada! Sadie's Halloween costume! It probably cost around 50 dollars to do the whole thing. With fabric, the zipper, foam balls, buttons, green yarn, cardboard, etc. We already had the black marker to write Scram and the metal can with the lid. I think it turned out better than any expensive store bought costume would have. We took pictures and put them on Facebook, instagram, and pinterest. Everyone has said how much they like it and how creative it is! We haven't taken her out tricker treating in it yet but I can't wait to see what people say. :) Sadie has been cutting teeth lately too so she is really getting into character as a grouch! I hope that you select us as this years coolest homemade costume because it took a lot of time to put this costume together and I feel like like not a lot of other people dress up as Oscar the grouch anymore
