A word from Marcella, the 'Operation Game' costume creator:

My 12 year old daughter and I made the costume for her. She loves to dress up with her siblings with a common theme. When her younger sister was determined to dress up as a surgeon, my 12 year old decided to dress up like the operation game. We saw other versions of the costume on Pinterest, but we wanted to keep ours as true to the actual game as possible. The shirt and leggings were white and had to be dyed flesh colored. The game pieces were made out of foam core board-pictures of the actual game pieces were used as guides. The pictures on the shirt were hand drawn then copied onto iron on paper. The game pieces were attached to the costume with industrial strength Velcro so that they can be removed. The “tweezers” are kitchen tongs with red parachute cord attached to a small spring clip so that it can be removed. We spent approximately 10 hours and $40 making the costume.

I'm Trying to do this costume for myself and my husbands the doctor. Do you have a template for the pieces or did you hand draw? What did you use to cut the foam core board?
Thank you!

As far as a template, I just googled operation pieces. I found a good picture of all the pieces and just printed it off and enlarged it to use as a template. I took a pic of my pieces laid out if you need me to email you that. I used little hook fasteners for the rubber band. I cut the foam core with a very sharp xacto knife. If I can help you with anything else, let me know

Thank you for your quick response! Yes, if you can email me pics of your pieces so I can use that would be great!! I would need the pic to be straight on and not angled. Thank you!

Amazing job!
I'd love to receive the email of pieces too please!
I've sewn a unitard for my son, and have all the bits and bobs but am afraid my artistic skills are not up to snuff!
Is the iron-on paper easy to find?
Thanks so much!

I dont have a template per se, just the photo I got off google and used as a template. For best results, print off the photo then outline the images with a fine tip sharpie before enlarging to your size. This keeps the lines from being too blurry when you enlarge. I also have a photo I took of my pieces, which I didn't realize is the same photo that is on here. I will gladly send these images, if you just give me your email address. I'm also more than happy to trouble shoot with you, if you have any problems.
