Oompa Loompa Costume

Oompa Loompa Doompity Dee, if I am lucky the judge will pick me!!! This year right before Halloween two of the original Wonka kids (now grown up) came to my town and did a special showing of the movie at our theater. I got a bunch of people to go and tried to talk everyone into dressing as Oompa Loompas. Everyone said they would but only one other did and his was store bought. I wanted to make mine, I started witha disposible painters coverall, cut them and added suspenders. Found some big buttons to put on the suspenders, a brown shirt with added cuffs and collar worked, I made the cuffs/collar from brown felt and white duck tape, velcro to hold them on. Found a pair of brown slippers and attached styrofoam balls on them. The wig and the socks and gloves were the only things bought and used as bought (and do you know how hard it is to find vertcle striped socks???) Orange make up and cotton balls for eyebrows and i was set!

I was a hit at the movie with people asking to take pics with me, and both Julie Dawn Cole (Veruca Salt) and Paris Themmen (Mike Teavee) loved it. I had fun with it and wore it again for a halloween party where it was also a hit and I won the contest there.
