This homemade costume for women entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Lana, the 'Mystique' costume creator:

This is me wearing my DIY mystique costume! I absolutely love mystique from x-men and believe she symbolizes real femininity, strength, honour, independence! I used plain blue morph suit, cut off the head and bought blue and black dimensional fabric paint to paint her 'scales' and 'designs'. The back is done as well but the details are too small to fully see in the picture. The face was made through liquid latex and regular halloween blue face paint with black face paint using a dense foundation brush to blend! I also had large hazel contacts in my eyes. The total cost was approximately $160.00. I am so happy with how this project turned out! It was one of my best.

Hello - The costume has since become broken - the zipper failed.

Hi! Right now I'm trying to create this costume as well. But I have problems with putting the latex on. Did you apply it while you were wearing it or did you lay it down for applying? Because I tried it while I was wearing the suit and glued thru the material onto my skin?
