A word from Jessica, the 'Elsa the Snow Queen' costume creator:

I made this costume for my daughter, because she adores Frozen. I found the mass-produced costumes disappointed, so I opted to make my own and try to get it as movie-accurate as I could. It was a long process, very labor intensive, as it required drafting my own patterns, piecing together multiple layers of fabric, adhering rhinestones (20,000 in total, for both the dress and the cape). It cost me about twice as much as a store bought costume (around $140) but I think it is entirely worth it.

The dress is made entirely from dance/performance spandex, so it is sturdy and stretchy, and my daughter can put it on and take it off by herself without having to struggle with buttons or a zipper or anything like that. The cape is attached with a separating zipper (like on jackets) so it can be removed or attached as desired. It took me about 70 hours to glue on all of the rhinestones to the cape, but the cape is my favorite part. Altogether I used sequin spandex, plain stretch jersey (for lining the dress), spandex mesh, organza, 20,000+/- rhinestones, 3 bottles of glue, a few spools of thread, and every drop of my patience.
