A word from Jennifer, the 'Minecraft Steve' costume creator:
My 8 year old son is a huge Minecraft fan so I decided to make him his very own Minecraft "Steve" costume this year. I found a layout for a small (paper-made) Steve online and used it to get my precise scale measurements and color scheme. Then, I simply went to an office supply store and bought 4 of the largest cardboard boxes that I could find and began the construction process. I made all of my measurements and scored the boxes where I needed my folds to be. Once the body pieces were put together, I decided to use vinyl as my body. I took each color section and input it into the computer as groups and then plotted each individual color in the correct spot that it should be placed on the costume. It was an extremely time consuming process with exact precision but in the end it couldn't have turned out more perfect. Other items that I needed to construct this costume included hot glue gun, sticky velcro, elastic, yard stick, exacto blade, and a scoring tool. It started out as a pretty cheap costume concept (that I could have done much cheaper!) but after all of the vinyl that I used in all of the different colors, it became rather expensive. I made it where the arms could be moved front to back and also where the legs were able to be walked in comfortably. If it wasn't going to be comfortable then there was no point in spending all of the time making it. I hope everyone can appreciate and enjoy the time and detail of this project as much as I did. Thanks for looking!!
