A word from Brad, the 'Megatron' costume creator:
So I designed, crafted, and wore/wear this costume. My inspiration was the Transformers characters at Universal Studio. The design, skills, and overall hardwork that those artists put into those costumes blew me away. So it got me thinking...why can't I do that?(other than the fact, I wasn't artistic and never built a costume of this magnitude)... In January 2015, I began my work on the costume. I went to lowes, picked up foam insulation board, spray paint, and hot glue gun. I ordered some craft foam, a hockey helmet, plastic sheeting, some lights, and a few other items from the internet. After that I never looked back. After more than 100 hours of hard work, $250 in supplies (including drywall stilts), and countless hours of designing and planning, I was finally finished. My costume stands over 8 feet tall, it plays music, and lights up like the 4th of July. This costume is sure to impress, I hope you enjoy! Quick tip: if you build a costume like this, be ready to pose for tons of pictures.
