Medusa and her Stone Soldier Costume

This is my husband & I. Both costumes are hand made, in all aspects. My husbands costume is made up of a simple tunic that I sewed & hand painted in different grey & white tones. His sandals, cape & other accessories all received the same paint coats & to finish them all & achieve a stone look, I sprayed them with a stone effect spray paint found at our local Home Depot. His helmet is a cheap found online buy that was originally gold, as is his sword. I used some sand paper to scoff them up & remove the paint before doing the same paint coat + stone spray to them as his tunic, sandals & shield. His shield is a heavy duty garbage can lid that I paper mache’d & added cardboard elements to before also spraying like everything else. My costume consisted of a consignment store find dress, which I cut & altered myself. I added gold material found at Fabricland, along with sheer fabric to drape from my shoulders down to my wrists. I have a partially stuffed & hand painted with fabric paints & spray glitter tail that wrapped around my ankles/base of my feet to add to the look. My headpiece is hand carved from a mattress foam topper, spray painted & bejewelled with red embellishments from Michael’s. My bow & arrow were an amazon purchase that I spray painted gold. We had a friend do our face/body paint & I purchased white out contacts to help cement our looks & we took home the Best Couple Costume prize at the Halloween Bash we went to.
