A word from Roberta, the 'Maleficent' costume creator:
I love the movie maleficent and I thought Angelina Jolie was gorgeous. So, I decided to be her for Halloween. I bought a black cocktail dress ($8) and black curtains ($10) at a thrift store. The dress only went down to just below the knees so I used another dress I already had (but never liked to wear), cut the bottom and sewed it to the cocktail dress to make it longer. I cut and used the curtains around the arms. I wrapped yarn around a long dowel (to look like vines), painted it black, then added a green and blue painted Christmas ornament to the top to make to maleficent's staff. I used chipboard, black material from the thrift store, and wire to make the to collars coming out of her shoulders. I made the costume last minute and did not have time to make the horns so I had to buy them. The contacts were purchased online from Eye Stylez.
