A word from Kaiya, the 'Mad Max & Wasteland Warriors' costume creator:

Orion is Mad Max, in a cardboard and duct tape Interceptor car. Working push headlights ($10 @ home depot) and a light-up super charger made from recycled laundry containers and duct tape. The car took about a month to make. Mad Max's jacket was purchased on Ebay ($17) and had the sleeve chopped off to match the Road Warrior movie version.

John, as Wez from Road Warrior, has thrift shopped football pads ($7) and a studded rubber mat/leather belt ($15). Arm shields out of thrifted shin guards, one with attached toy crossbow ($17). This costume took about 1.5 weeks to complete.

Kai, as a wasteland warrior, made her costume with upcycled clothing, torn and stitched together roughly and then dirtied up with old make-up. Shoulder armor is made from a broken thrifted football pad with spikes drilled into it, and lined with fur - held on with tied paracord and snaps ($9). Random "trinkets" and tools added with chains ($10) and thread. A $3 costume ax, a $1 plastic skull, and leftover fabric, make up the weapon she carries.
