This homemade costume for girls entered our 2017 Halloween Costume Contest, and won 1st place in the Best Children's Costume nomination!

A word from Renee, the 'Lounge Singer' costume creator:

My daughter is standing with a wig on and the piano as you can see is just hanging from her shoulders. I made the piano out of foam board and duct tape. The legs are old tights and I cut the dress to go on her and still have enough to lay on the piano. She wore black tights and black shorts. It's mostly about making a real looking piano and I just cut my shape out by looking at a picture of one.

What did you stuff the nylons with to make them look real and also what did you use to make the keyboard

I just used thick panty hose or even nude colored tights. I stuffed them with regular craft stuffing.
The whole piano is made out of foam board. The key to every costume for me is the tape - I use the silver (almost foil looking) tape used for dryer vents. It sticks amazing and molds around all cardboard or foam board.

Hope this helps! Thanks

Is that tape holding up on her shoulder or a strap. If it's a clear strap where did you buy it from?

That is NOT tape... It is actually just cut from a piece of clear tablecloth cover. You can buy it by the yard at JoAnns then just cut it into strips... Hope that helps :)

What did you use to glue to foam together? Did you paint it? If you did what paint did you use?

How did you make/ put the keyboard piano keys on the piano?

OMG I just saw this so sorry... I use insulation foam board - It's $10 for a big sheet at Lowes. It's easy to cut and silver on one side. I then use the silver foil insulation/dryer vent tape it holds great and forms to everything. I use it on all my costumes. I just remade this costume yesterday for myself and it turned out way better this year. I covered it in black felt with spray glue. The one in this pic is just painted black. For the keys I dont know what I used there but this year I used black CHIP CLIPS for the black keys and drew on the white ones. If you still have questions just call me. I always love to help other crafty people out! Thanks, Renee 407-493-9773 Also go to my Instagram page and you can see aLL my costumes through the years. ReneeAdamsHalloweenCostumes
