Lady Pin Cushion Costume

Working in the garment industry, pin cushions and pins are a constant in my daily life. This year I decided to bring the pin cushion to a life-sized form and pay homage to what everyone's grandma has.
The body is built like a hoop sirt but instead in bubble shape with plasitc tubing. I covered the tubing in several layers of batting, and then the fabric. Once the fabric was on I added the tomato details as well as the strawberry - which also doubles as a purse. I attached the ribbom "tape measure" waistband with elastic on the inside for further reinforcement.
The pins were constructed out of styrofoam balls and wooden dowels that I painted. The thimble hat is a spray painted solo cup. The needle staff is a wooden dowel wrapped in tin foil :)
It was a labor of love, and I'm so happy with the way it turned out! Now onto planning next years!
