A word from Jamey, the 'Jack & Rose from Titanic' costume creator:

I am Jack and I made Rose and the front of the Titanic out of all sorts of materials. I got this idea because people have said I look similar to Leonardo Dicaprio and so I've always wanted to dress up as him. I didn't have a girl to go as Rose so I decided to make her.

I was by the ocean for a house party and made it just in time to get the photos with the perfect sun setting. No photoshop was used in any of these photos.

During the night I had the theme from Titanic, My Heart Will Go On, playing on my iPhone and I would say things like "do you trust me rose"...."close your eyes"..."I'm flying Jack"..."I'm the king of the world"...etc.

It was super light so easy to carry around all night. She stood by herself and I wasn't attached so I could easily go to the bathroom. I ended up winning the most creative costume at the house party and almost also won the best couple! Ha.

It was so much fun walking around with her and we ended up going to some bars. People loved it and I took so many photos with people all night long. I could even take off the head so ladies could stand behind and put their head on Rose to take photos. I highly recommend and encourage everyone to steal this idea from me for next year. You will be the highlight of the party!

Construction: I used foam swimming noodles as her body. The dress and scarf was bought at Goodwill as well as the white blouse which was actually a kids dress. The arm is a foam noodle with a pvc pipe inside to make it stiff. Gloves were stuffed with foam peanuts. The foam head was bought from Michael's as well as the paint to make her face. The wig was found at Target. To attach the head I wedged the handle of a small hammer up the hole inside the head. Then just put it on top of the foam noodles. The hammer provided enough weight to keep it from falling off plus as a bonus I could turn her head.

The front of the ship was made out of pvc pipe and painted silver. Bought all the materials at Lowe's. I wore black pants, coat and shoes I already owned. The shirt and suspenders were from Goodwill. I used a lot of black zip ties and safety pins to hold Rose to the Titanic.

One feature that is hard to see from the photos is I made it look like it was windy with the scarf and her hair. I stuck bendy metal into her arms and wrapped the scarf so it appeared it was blowing in the wind. Did the same thing to her hair. Total cost for everything was about $120.

This is my homemade costume and original idea I'm very happy with. I searched Google and couldn't find anyone else that has done it before but am more than happy to share the love. Would love to see other people try it next year. :)
