July 4th is on the way
Please stop in and click below: PATRIOTIC COSTUMES May God Bless our Fighting Men and Women ![]() Welcome to My World! ![]() About
Costume-Works.com
Bottom line is that I hope to have a site that will be enjoyable to visit as well as easy to use in finding exactly whom or "what" you would like to become for a certain occasion, holiday, activity, or ...just for fun.
I can always use MORE PHOTOS! Please send any photos you'd like me to post to: Coletta@Costume-Works.com Check out my past Halloween Contests at the links here~~> 2006 Halloween Costume Contest and~~~> 2007 Halloween Costume Contest Both Contests were a BLAST and I can hardly wait until NEXT Halloween when we will have Halloween Costume Contest 2008!. The world of COSTUMES is so large that it may take some time to include all of the occasions one might find in which a costume is needed or desired. If there is something that I miss...or something NEW that is happening in your neck of the woods that requires a little shape-shifting, ego altering, magic wand waving, or simple "prest-o-change-o", to slip into the skins of someone or something else for a piece of time.....PLEASE feel free to share the occasion and it's idea with me here at Costume-Works.com. Simply send me an E-Mail with the information enclosed to: Coletta@Costume-Works.com ....your ideas and thoughts will be greatly appreciated. For those of us who enjoy the fantasy of getting out of our own selves and into that of someONE or someTHING else.. we will be happy to mark off another Costume Occasion on our calendar. Speaking of
OCCASIONS!.. Halloween
IS, for many fellow
Costume lovers, THE
Dress-Up Occasion of the year!
That
being
the case, I have dedicated the
first
several pages of this site to Halloween and all you need to do is
click
a Topic on the Menu on the left of this page to get
to the desired Halloween/Costume page. Of course you needn't
stick to pages labeled "Halloween" to find a great Costume to wear on
Halloween. Further down the Menu you will find Fantasy Costumes,
Movie Costumes, Historical Costumes, Holiday Costumes, and
etc. We know someone may want to
dress like an Outlaw or Sheriff from the Old West...Or maybe
even a Turkey Costume (also for Thanksgiving
:-) would be to your liking as a
Halloween Costume. You may find Lucy Ball in the
"Movie Costume" link in the "Holiday and Fantasy"
section and I think she makes a WONDERFUL Halloween Character ALSO!
(my
humble opinion of course
:-).
While we are on the topic of Halloween..let me show you a few Costumes that I happen to think are very cool: A Skeleton Zombie or a Parrot from
SpiritHalloween.com
The above costumes are just a VERY SMALL (comparatively) example of
what I have to show you on my other pages so please roam around. Click
on Costumes you like and you will be taken to THAT store. Bookmark this
site so you can return here easily...IF your heart desires Ü
Halloween may be the BIGGIE for Costumes...but let's not forget the
other Holidays that often require Costumes for Parties, School Plays or
Parades. To list a few( you will find them on the menu on the left of
each page):
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Christmas
with it's Santa Clauses(Mr. AND Mrs. Ü),
Reindeer, Angels, and etc.
(above Costumes from SpiritHalloween.com) (where they don't carry ONLY Halloween Costumes! Ü)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanksgiving...Turkeys, Pilgrims, Native Americans,
etc.
The above Costumes are brought to you by Frank Bee at costumeman.com
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Easter..Easter
Bunnies, Chicks, Easter Eggs,
etc.
(I must admit..the baby costumes are my FAVORITE! Ü TOO CUTE !)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Valentines Day...
Hearts, Cupids, Couples Costumes,
etc.
above are two more Costumes from SpiritHalloween.com. The Fedora says "Love Slave" on it. A nice thing to wear for your significant other on Valentines Day Ü. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The list goes on as you will see on the left-hand menu. Above
is
just a tiny example of what you will find for Holiday
Costumes.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
(I am in the process of re-vamping this page so if it seems a bit jumbled... THAT's my story and I'm stickin' to it!. Ü)(Please forgive any inconvenience. I will have it all back together soon. (I HOPE! Ü) Checking further down the Menu... Under "Historical Costumes" you'll recall that there ARE such GREAT "dress-the-part" events as Renaissance Faires or Civil War Re-enactments. There are also Rodeos and good ole Country/Western BBQs and Barn Dances to dress "Country style" for too. I hear that "Western Days" celebrations are getting more popular (at least "Out West" Ü) by the year so put on you Cowboy Hat n' Boots and join in the parade! Yee Haw! By the way, What about Birthdays? There ARE Birthdays! (Having 6 children and 11 grandchildren..I am VERY aware of this fact:-). Masquerade Birthday Parties can be JUST the thing for turning a yearly event that can get rather repititous...into something much more exciting and out of the ordinary. Age should be no object, as these types of Birthday Parties can be enjoyed by Children and Adults alike. Adults... Put on those Dancing Shoes and get ready to BOOGIE...Try a "50's Theme Party". Complete with Poodle Skirt outfit , Do-Wop Wig, and let's not forget, those hunky bad boys in their Leather Jackets and Slicked Back Hair-do("skull-cap" if needed)..ALL found at Frank Bee Costume Center...Your number one costume speciality store.
Ready
to Rock n'
Roll!?
OR!...How about that COSTUME Birthday Party for a youngin'. Wouldn't the kids just go CRAZY dressing as their favorite Saturday Morning Cartoon or Disney Cartoon Character? Check out my friends at the Costume Zone where they have a ZONE for absolutely everything! For MANY costumes for a Cartoon Theme Birthday Party click~~~> The Cartoon Zone
It seems to me
that just about any "Occasion" or "Holiday" can be made into something
a bit more special...maybe even a LOT more special...if the element of
"Costuming" or "Masquerading" is added. Then we
also have Mardi
Gras that is traditionally a New Orleans, 3 day party and parade.
Costumes are a very necessary item if you'd like to feel TRUELY a
"part
of". The fun and craziness of this affair has, for a few years now,
made it's way further East and all the way West...and is celebrated
similarly in many of the bigger cities around the good ole US of
A. As I work
on these pages I
will be adding new reasons for getting dressed-up as I hear
of
them. Meantime.. I will be adding new Costumes that I come across that
I feel you simply won't be able to live without.
:-) If you are in a bit of a hurry to pick-out and purchase a costume and/or Accessories, there is a mighty nice place to do a search, find, and purchase all in just a few clicks. Check out Costumes and Accessories though BizRate.com . I think you'll like the selection and the ease and speed with which you will find exactly what you'd like.
I
have not done much work on my party/recipe/etc. pages yet..as
I
have mostly centered my energy around actual "COSTUMES" as per the
title of my WebSite. I had hoped I would have some "sent-in
"
recipes or party ideas to work off of and "add-to". HOWEVER! As of NOW
I haven't recieved any such "send-ins" so it is looking like I will
need to start from scratch in these areas and hopefully WILL one day
have some great "party ideas" and/or "holiday recipe" pages for you to
visit.
I DO intend to get to these pages soon and I Thank You for your kind
patience
:-) There IS some very basic info there though .....a few
helpful links, etc.... so you may want to peek into my
"party/recipe"
categories if you have a Costume Party in the works. IN the
meantime though ...There's plenty of help for Parties of the
"Birthday"
type...or just about any kind of "Theme" Party one
can imagine ( Once you've decided what to WEAR of course :-) Most
Costume Shops now have a full array of Party goods...from decorations
to disposable dining wear.
While
you're at it, why not arrange to have some PINATA fun at your Costume
Party? The thing I really like about a Pinata is that it
acts
as a beautiful decoration..right up until time for it to
become the main attraction. By the way, Pinatas need not always to be
stuffed with sweets. If the Hosts prefer they can stuff a Pinata with
small prizes..or even seperately wrapped, small , NON-sweet
edibles.(making sure these items are sturdy enough to withstand the
fall to the ground of course). There are so MANY Pinatas to
choose from and you can check out some very cool ones at
www.pinatas.com Below is a Girls 3rd year Birthday Cake, and also a Medieval Castle...possibly for a Renaissance affair...or perhaps your daughter is holding court, as Princess or Queen, for her Birthday.
Many
of us, as children, enjoyed the fun of getting into Mommy and/or
Daddy's closet , or even better, stowed away trunks from Grandma and
Grandpas time. There we discovered worlds of role-play. We called it
"Dress-up" when I was a child (looooooong ago ). My
mother offered up some of her costume jewelry and even a bit of make-up
too. What JOY! It was very exciting to be able to shed my 'little girl'
persona to become a glamorous woman. Yes, glamorous. The cut glass in
my Mothers costume jewelry necklace had
turned to diamonds ( Large Marquise Diamonds as a matter of fact:-)
with just a wave of my imagination.
Of course, as I got older, the fascination with my mothers closets wore out, but I continued to look forward to every chance I had to be in costume. Halloween became a BIGGIE and actually remained quite an occasion all the way through my child rearing years. I had so much fun dressing my own kids for Halloween..that I think even THEY enjoyed my nit-picking their Costumes to perfection. They loved it and so did I. Heck, I even had to dress-up myself (on THEIR insistance of course ,-) to take them trick-or-treating a time or two.
Now that I’m a more "mature" woman, I leave most of the dressing-up to the youngins. I have 6 adult children and 11 grandchildren (and still counting) so I figure I DID my job! I’ll just sit back and get my joy out of "watching" and helping all of you out there, the best I can to have your costume ideas and dreams come true. Costuming, and everything about it, can be LOADS of fun that NOBODY should have to miss out on!
Thanks again for stopping by and come back often because I will be building on this site every day. If you'd like to read some of my writings..musings...thoughts..WHATEVER these articles that I created can be considered. Visit Articles by Coletta . I wish you an enjoyable read. Friends, please come and check out Coletta's Costumer's Coffee Stop (Try to say that 3 times real fast! Maybe you'll need a bit of caffeine to do it!) ~~~~~~ Coletta ![]() |
