This homemade costume for pets entered our 2018 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Kim, the 'Hermit Crab' costume creator:
This is my dog Larry as a hermit crab. The costume started as a cardboard folder and shaped as a cone. I added a few other shaping pieces like foil to the cone. Next I covered it in spray foam and carved it when was dry. I filled the holes with plaster of Paris and then painted it. I sewed tubes and two claw shaped arms and attached them with hot glue to the fabric I glued inside the shell.
