A word from Lindsey, the 'Harry Potter and Dobby' costume creator:
In the pictures are myself as Harry Potter and my 13 month old daughter Lily. My Harry Potter costume is a mix of consignment clothing, my college graduation gown, a couple store bought props and a wig. All you need to create Harry Potter is a white button downshift, a grey v neck sweater, a maroon and gold tie and a black robe or gown. Add circular glasses, a men's wig, and carry a stick and viola, you're Harry Potter! Oh, and don't forget to draw on Harry's lightening bolt scar with eyeliner pencil. My daughter Lily's Dobby Costume is made from a pillow case. To create Dobby's head and ears, I sewed pieces of felt to create ears and a chin strap so she wouldn't just tear it off easily. Fabric marker creates the details and depth of the ears. Toss on one sock and you have Dobby, the free elf! We had a blast!
