A word from Lisa, the 'Harry Potter and Hermione' costume creator:

Our 6 month old twins, Noah and Quinn, are celebrating their first Halloween as Harry Potter and Hermione. I was on Etsy looking at baby costumes when I saw baby Harry Potter costumes and thought Harry Potter and Hermione would be perfect for boy/girl twins. The robes themselves were selling for $80 plus on Etsy, way over our budget.. So I decided to make them myself. The robes are small youth tee shirts from Walmart that cost $2 each. We cut them up the middle and sewed a button on. The small gryffindor iron on patches, wands and owl are from Amazon. I couldn't find a red and yellow baby necktie, but I did find red and white striped ones on Littlest Prince Couture. I bought a yellow fabric marker and painted the white stripes yellow. The glasses I found on eBay... I wanted something special for my daughter since my son had the glasses, so I decided my daughter needed hair :) Her head happens to be the same size as many doll wigs but the closest thing I could find was a Shirley Temple type wig on Dolls by Sandie. I've never styled a wig before so it was trial and error. I wet the wig and spent a couple hours loosening the curls which made it pretty frizzy. Perfect for a Hermione wig! The grey knee high socks are also from Amazon. The white button down shirts and khakis are Baby Gap which we already had for my son. The shoes we had from Old Navy already, and the skirt was a hand me down from our cousin. Overall i think the costumes came out really cute. It was a challenge finding things that were "baby sized" and not just putting them in oversized kid/adult versions of the costume but it worked out and we saved a ton of money by putting it together ourselves.
