This homemade costume for families entered our 2016 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Corie, the 'Trolls' costume creator:

Our whole family fell in love with these adorable characters the moment we first saw the preview for the Dreamworks movie Trolls! Each member of our family resonated with specific character and from there we matched the appropriate wig. The girls costume dresses were sewed then hand dyed, or painted. The DJ costume top was crocheted and the pants were pieced together with. Crochet, felt, and cotton material. Each person had hand dyed matching shirt and tights to coordinate with the "skin" color. And the green vest was made by cutting each individual piece and glued using felt. Each patch and ribbon was adhered individually as well. Adding a few finishing touches with makeup, paint pallet and some headphones and you have he finished product!!

I love this idea! You guys look awesome!!! One question... I can't place the purple troll. Which is he it made up?
Thanks!

Riann- the purple troll is not a main character, it was however copied from a picture of a large group of trolls from the movie.

How did you create or what did you piece together for the DJ Suki costume?

Great job!

#8 comment by corie pitcher August 31, 2017

Thank you so much Jaclynn!! I actually crocheted the top piece ( if you look carefully, DJ Suki's costume looked knitted in the movie). I took a pair of white pants, then pieced together and sewed on other pieces of cotton fabric with extra crocheted pieces to the bottoms to look similar to DJ Suki. I glued a gem on the belly button, and added crocheted bracelets.
As with all of the other costumes, I just bought shirts and tights and hand dyed them too coordinate with the "skin".

Hi. How did you make branches vest?

#21 comment by corie pitcher October 10, 2017

It's made entirely out of felt. The leaves were easier cut to and just hot glue!

#22 comment by Anna October 25, 2017

Where can i find the crochet pattern for the halter top you are wearing.

#23 comment by corie pitcher October 25, 2017

Anna, I didn't use a pattern. I'm so sorry!
