A word from Bonnie, the 'Stuart The Minion' costume creator:

'll start by saying I'm not the most creative person I know but I instantly fell in love with the minions. After searching the internet I realize the only minion costumes for adults were pretty ugly..lol So I went right to work figuring out  how to make a minion. I started with two camping pads and a pray. I wrapped the mat around me to get a idea of size and cut off the excess which I used for the eye later. His head was the hardest part. I cut points to turn the square in a circle dome. Taking thick yarn I stitched it together turning into a circle. I sewed the lower half and then took adhesive spray and glued yellow fleece to the head. Before doing that I cut a hole for his eye, arms, and mouth. I save the piece cut out from his mouth for later.  Also to add 3d depth I took a piece of the mat and added it to the bottom of the month. I glued magnets on the inside to hold his head to the body. After doing that I wrapped him again in fleece so you couldn't see blue anymore. I let it dry and started working on the eye which was also the blue mat. I wrapped his eye with aluminum flashing and used beads wrapped also for the bolts. I used a crochet screen to see out of. This whole process took a lot of hot glue.  After a few burns I begin to see real progress and got super excited. I bought suspenders from Wal-Mart to be able to wear the minion. I found the biggest pair of overalls I could at a flea market. I glued them on also and drew the gru symbol on with a permanent market. His teeth were cut out using the blue mat and were spray painted white then glued back  in front of a black piece of fleece. His eye was hot glued into the hole. I bought a yellow long sleeve and black chemical gloves off eBay. I found fake bananas from the craft store to. The night of Halloween we decided to go to the mall and bass pro. I didn't want to put the whole costume on when we arrived so I decided to wear the body and cram myself into my little Saturn in the back seat mind you.I wore only the long sleeve and underwear to keep myself from burning up. At the mall my husband helped me navigate where to go. I loved seeing and hearing all the kids get so excited seeing this huge minion. I did however scare a few small children...oops My seven year old daughter got a little jealous from all the people wanting pictures but she still got candy so she was happy. I was told a few times I should win a costume contest so here I am;) All in all I loved all of it, expect the money I spent which ended up a little over a hundred dollars. I'm probably going to wear him for a few years.
