This homemade costume for women entered our 2013 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Rene, the 'Medusa' costume creator:

I am wearing a home made costume of medusa. I made the hoop skirt out of clack cotton and green snake skin material. I used plastic aquarium tubibg that I purchased from Ace Hardware. I took the idea of a hoop skirt and desgiigned and made the tail. I also laid out the green snake skin and painted it. The tail and the skirt hook together to create a long 6 foot tail.

I then used 10 yards of green and black striped crenoline and randomly bobbi pinned it in my hair, I pruchased a head band that has blue snakes that have led lights in them.

I hand painted my face to appear as if Medusa had her eyes bright yellow with her mouth open as if she was about to attack her prey. I used good ol regular acrylic paint which ened up cracking half way through the night. For a little extra sparkle, I glued green sequence to my face.
I have attatched the photos as chronolicically accurate as I could.

Thanks.
Rene

Lol i forgot to mention, i spent 50 hours making the skirt and the tail, 4.5 hours doing my hair and make up, and 1.5 hours painting my back and arma with the scales. In total i spent $500 for all the material and tubing needed to make this. Once again thanks!!
