This homemade costume for families entered our 2016 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Matthew, the 'Ghostbusters & Ecto-1' costume creator:

Our entire family decides on a costume each year in August or early September. This year was inspired by Ghostbusters and my son (4yo) wanted this theme for his birthday party (Nov.). Our daughter then suggested it be our Halloween costume as long as we had Ecto-1 as part of our costume. The challenge how to build it but every year we must include our kids wagon (tradition)! Our costume purchase was the coveralls with Ghostbusters logo, the rest of customer is all DIY. The wagon just would be big enough so this year we also incorporated a 12v power wheel. The key is to successfully build frame that won't fall apart and light weight enough that the power wheel can still pull. PVC frame with zip ties and fittings then test drive to ensure it will stay together and work. After frame is built wrap in felt 6 yards white, 2 black, and some red. Lots of hot glue, duct tape, clear packing tape, and foil. Random kitchen gadgets like ice trays, funnels, and gift boxes, paper towel tubes, wine bottle gift boxes, happy meal totes, and other various items make up the items on the roof rack of Ecto-1. Covered in foil or duct tape and secured with hot glue. LED lights are attached and Bluetooth speaker playing the ghostbusters song blare. Last but not least a trap door is created so cooler can still be packed in wagon carrying beverages for the family.
