This homemade costume for groups entered our 2015 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Irene, the 'Despicable Me' costume creator:
My name is Irene and I am the purple minion! We have the whole crew-- Gru, yellow minion, purple minion, and all three girls :).
The purple minion is made of two cylindrical clothes hampers (body and head). A helmet and an extremely large plastic pumpkin give the top of the head the height and shape. Four blonde, spray-painted wigs make the hair. Empty gallon ice scream buckets make the goggles and Styrofoam makes the teeth. Dryer piping make the arms and there is A TON of felt/clue/etc going on. I am 5'3" so my head is through the kind-of see through black that makes the mouth.
The yellow minion is made of similar items, except for the body which is made with plastic fencing material. The other characters are made with items from home or from second-hand stores.
