This homemade costume for girls entered our 2015 Halloween Costume Contest.

My daughter, Addison, really wanted the Mal Coronation Costume. Mal is a character from Disney Descendants. I looked EVERYWHERE but had no luck! I asked all of my friends but no one would be able to make it for me. I've never been a crafty person nor have i ever sewn anything in my life. I was determined to sew the costume so that she could really be the character that she wanted to be. I went to JoAnn Fabric and bought 2 yards of lavendar satin, 1 yard of 3 different types of patterned lace and one sparkle lace. I also bought a zipper, floral wired fencing, and rhinestones. I watched YouTube, several videos, but one video about DIY Bodice seemed so simple that I was truly inspired. I started off with putting the bodice together and then just let my imagination go free, no patterns, nothing. If it didn't fit right, I just made adjustments. I let my daughter go crazy with the rhinestones.
