Big Trouble in Little China's Gracie Law Costume

I am wearing the costume. I love '80s movies, and Big Trouble in Little China is one of my top favs. Gracie Law's dress is beautiful, and I thought I was up to the challenge to recreate it. I started with the headpiece. I bought white feathers, acrylic metallic gold paint, which I used on the feathers to make her gold ones. I then stapled the feathers to a visor I got from the fabric store which is where I got red satin fabric and a kimono pattern. I adjusted the pattern to best match her dress style. I also got glittered hard stock paper which I cut in the shape of the peacock wings that frame her face. For her golden peacock head detail, I shaped tin foil as best as I could in the shape of a peacock head and painted it gold. I used glue gun for the first time to glue all details to the headpiece, including the peacock head. Once the fabric was all stitched up and sewed like her dress, I cut out a stencil of the Chinese symbol she has all over her dress, I dipped the stencil into the metallic gold paint and then stamped the symbol throughout various parts of the dress. And lastly I had to glue with fabric glue the golden trims along her sleeves, and my mother helped me sew the trim around the belt and neckline. The hardest part was over once all that was done. Her makeup was really easy to mimick.
