A word from Morgan, the 'Alice in Wonderland' costume creator:

I love Alice in wonderland, I've Ben playing the game Alice the madness returns lately, I even watched the Walt Disney version with my husband on our anniversary. Needless to say it was a great idea when my husband said we should all dress up as wonderland characters. He hadn't dressed up in 6 years, so i went all out.
We bought the Alice dress for the toddler at spirit for $30.00, I made her tutu with $3.00 of tulle, and used black tights she already had. Since Alice shrinks when eating mushrooms we choose our 1 year old to be Alice.
For the white rabbit, I spent $4.00 on the bunny nose and $8.00 on the hat at Amazon.com. I bought the dress for $3.00 at a thrift store. We borrowed her brothers vest and my pocket watch necklace. I made her tutu for $7.00. I bought the white fabric to make arms and legs from hobby lobby for $18.00 And sewed them myself.
Now the Cheshire cat I knew I could not make and choose to buy his costume on Amazon for $25.00. And they double as pajamas! I got a pair too so we can be matching cats.
The Mad Hatter, my husband. He bought the hat at spirit for $25.00. The pants were 12 at rue 21, the shirt was at the thrift store. I bought the ttassels there as well for $1.00 and attached then to the jacket we already had. I bought a table runner for $1.00 and made his bow tie and bows for the shoes.
For my queen of hearts costume I disassembled a red bridesmaid dress and attached it to a black brides maid dress, I spent $20.00 on tulle and $5.00 on the white fabric. The gold was a table runner I got for $1.00 at the thrift store. I had The hearts from Valentine's day, the crown was $18.00.
I spent 5 weeks working on it as i could. My best friend gave me a sewing machine just so I could do this. I've never really sewn before, except a pair of boxers in middle school home ec class. I had to watch some you tube videos on working the machine. From there I just piece by piece figured it out the best i could. I learned a lot and found I have so much to learn. I enjoyed making these costumes and I think I will continue to make more Halloween costumes.
I hope you all enjoy this theme as much as we enjoyed the preparation and the actual wearing.
