This homemade costume for couples entered our 2012 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Brittany, the 'Gnomeo & Juliet' costume creator:

My boyfriend and I had a Halloween party to go too and after seeing the movie Gnomeo & Juliet I knew that's what we needed to be so last minute I put these costumes together. I bought a red dress for cheap from Forever 21 and sewed almost everything else.

He wore his own pants (suit pants)
Steel toe boots (he had from work)
I found a wide belt at tj maxx with a large buckle
Bought blue felt to make his vest (used a tux vest as a template)
The blue felt was used for his hat too, just cut out 2 large triangles. I put elastic in the hat so it would stay on his head. I just googled "how to sew elastic" and found a video on YouTube which was very helpful.
The sewing wasn't difficult, I can sew a straight line but that's about it so no need for fancy sewing. I actually didn't have a sewing machine so I bought one at Walmart, used it for this only and returned it lol oops
