A word from Terra, the 'Genie on a Magic Carpet' costume creator:

My 7 year old daughter is wearing a Genie on a magic carpet illusion costume. We purchased the purple Genie costume then took heavy duty card board cut it to the size we wanted the carpet to be. We purchased craft foam piece and a scarf (from local thrift store) that fit the board. We used a template to cut a whole in the cardboard, foam, and scarf. We then spray glued the craft foam to the cardboard to give the carpet a cushy look then spray glued the scarf to the top of the foam. We hot glued the gold ribbon trim piece and tassels on the edge of the board to give it a finished look. then we stapled a large piece of iridescent turquoise fabric to the bottom inside edge of the board so the legs would be hidden. Then we added back pack straps to the board inside the circle cut out so the carpet could be easily carried. We cut the seat out of the Genie costume and sewed it to the carpet then stuffed the legs added knee high nylons stuffed inside the legs and glued shoes on the end. We spray painted an old vase and added gems for the Genie's bottle and added dry ice to make it smoke! This costume was a Big hit it even fooled some adults!
