This homemade costume for adults entered our 2011 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Eric, the 'Soul Walker' costume creator:

I have dreamed about becoming a creature like this since I saw "The Dark crystal"( landstriders scene) when I was a child. When I was an adult I went to see "circ de soleil" while watching the blank face crutch walkers and it hit me why don’t I combine them both. This creature I refer to as "what nightmares are made of" is 7 feet tall and primarily made of recycled foam from electronic boxes. An Old Foam Eggcrate Mattress, duct tape (that has been spray painted black) coffee dyed cheese cloth and ripped up dollar store spooky cloth. I used old crutches, in which I modified to make taller since they only go to 6.6ft. The most expensive thing was the dry wall stilts that I bought, which is cheaper than making stilts from wood. The pictures do not do it justice, watching the video of me walking around scaring everyone on Halloween does. I will be making a how to video shortly but for the mean time click on the website link to view some of the creature in action video/photo. Happy Halloween!!!

Amazing!!! You out do yourself every year :)We are so proud of you and your born talent. You are correct, this picture does not do you justice. It's even scarier at night.

This is the coolest costume I've ever seen. And I've been Halloween-obsessed for about 26 years, so that's saying something. Thank you SO much for sharing! Wow.

How on earth do you manage to move in this?

You should have the balls to accredit the original artist.. funny how "original" you are!

This was done back in 2010... not saying that this costume isn't awesome, it's just not your original idea. And you really should give proper credit to the people who came up with it and not make it sound like you came up with it...

proper credit would be jim henson, dumbo.who WAS, in fact, mentioned. and I watched the vid....its NOT the same. different shoulders, different look, more cobwebby, not so smooth and chiton-like...

Very authentic costume. Going to create a version for next year, 2015.

What are your plans for costume? For sale? Thanks

Really cool!

Are you facing forwards or down in it? It's really hard to tell.

Would love to learn how you made this

Lots of people in this world. Ideas can be "original" even though different people come up with basicly the same idea. Don't pay attn. to the negative, just know your imagination is awesome & keep running with it! Not everyone has the talent to pull it off...

I would love to get one of these no matter the cost. I feel like I might be depressed and the one time I feel happy would be around Halloween
