This homemade costume for pets entered our 2014 Halloween Costume Contest.
A word from Jan, the 'Dorothy of Wizard of Oz' costume creator:
My phantom poodle Callie. I have always loved the movie, Wizard Of Oz, and my favorite character of course is "Dorothy" , so I had to design and make Callie the costume. I used. a satiny blue gingham and a quality white cotton fabric. Also the blue rickrack, and it has Velcro closure on tummy area. I then purchased the little basket from hobby lobby, and made a little Toto from felt.
I designed her ruby slippers made of felt and used red glitter, they attach with Velcro, and do not have soles, as she wouldn't tolerate that. I made her socks with cut down ladies socks then dyed them. And then she was the cutest, modeling her Dorothy costume! I used an app to put her in different Oz sceneries.
