A word from Kelley, the 'Daft Punk' costume creator:
My son Gavin is wearing the Thomas part of the musical duo Daft Punk. This costume is handmade except for clothing purchased from Goodwill. The helmet is made from a baseball batting helmet, cardboard, plexiglass, and automotive bondo, paint and tint. We also mounted a LED digital belt buckle in the visor and chose the phrase "Human After All" to scroll. The boots were painted, glued and glittered. The gloves were painted black and chrome as well. From start to finish this took approximately 6-7 weeks to create as time allowed. Cost was less than $100.00. Gavin is 9 years old and has become a huge Daft Punk fan over the past year or so. After looking online for the items needed to create this idea, I determined that the helmet alone was way too expensive! Therefore, the creativity had to start!
