Cute Scarecrow Costume

“The Wizard of Oz” has a forever place in my heart. It brings back that homely feeling we all long for as adults, the one that stops time and plays every piece of your childhood aloud. The memories seem so recent, the innonce of a tale of love, friendship and family.

My daughter is the light of my life. She brings joy to everyone she meets and she radiates a sense of safety when you are around her. As if you have searched your whole life just to find comfort in the tug of her hand, embrace of her hug or love in her laughter. The scarecrow was Dorthys first encounter on the yellow brick road and was a steady rock in her personal journey to find her strength to make it home, my daughter is my strength and my constant guide, daily.

I made this costume from scratch and it was worth every second! The tool of the bodice is from hobby lobby, the fake hay in the pieces on my daughters hands and chest are also from hobby lobby as well as the sunflower on the chest. I sewed an elastic band to fit around her upper half and then tied the pieces to make the tutu dress. Hot glued the sunflower and tied a piece of yarn to hold up the top half! It was a great hit, we received many compliments on how adorable it all turned out! She looked so stinking cute chasing that yellow brick road! It brought a lot of joy to myself and everyone who loves “The Wizard of Oz!”
