This homemade costume for women entered our 2016 Halloween Costume Contest.

A word from Yulia, the 'Ursula the Sea Witch' costume creator:

This is me wearing homemade Ursula costume. It is my first Halloween with the costume actually! I definitely wanted to be a villain and since I知 not the slimmest girl around - I wanted something flattering for my size :) So I came up with Ursula.
The dress was made by my mom - we took an old corset and made a skirt of black satin. The mesh top is part of the dress, we decided to make it as it痴 very cold here to go out sleeveless and I did not want to paint my arms. For tentacles we used lilac satin as well and for the suction cups we bought huge spangles. Inside the tentacles are some very fine hollowfibre balls and we used 1.8 mm copper wire to make them stand up but still being flexible. We fixed them to the hoop skirt with the same wires.
Flotsam and Jetsam are made of some super shiny fabric (guess it is satin too? not sure) with wrinkle effect, and bit of velvet. Eyes are the yolks of Kinder Surprise.
The earrings and necklace were bought at etsy, but we converted the earring to clips as I am still non-pierced. My husband made the light for the necklace with two yellow LEDs and it had a small button inside to turn it on and off. The same LEDs were used to make Flotsam and Jetsam eyes lit up too, each had separate button.
For hair I used super-strong hold hairspray and then covered it all with white paint hairspray by Kryolan. The makeup was done by my sister who is a makeup artist - she used foundation mixed with blue and red Kryolan face paint - I really like the result as it wasn稚 greasy at all and still looked great.
The costume was a total hit at the bar we went to and I even won the top prize (a bottle of rum, ha).
I guess I値l save this costume for a ComicCon or something as I like it so much :) The total cost of it was about $120 I think - the most expensive part was the jewellery.
