A word from Bergendy, the 'Lucy Moon the Black Cat' costume creator:

I myself am wearing the costume the idea came from my own fursona I created her with the intent of making my own halloween mascot. I wanted a character that embodied everything I love about halloween. Making her come to life was rather tough but in a sense it's pretty simple once you practice the methods it takes to make a mascot costume. First I began my process by making a base out of foam I sculpted her on a light weight ski mask and held her up by using a mannequin head. I made sure her form was perfect. Next, I taped the base using duct tape to crate a pattern for when I apply fur to her. I then used an exacto knife a carefully cut the tape off in sections. I then used these duct tape pieces as a pattern for the fur I carefully cut out these pieces from the fur fabric. Then I carefully hot glued the fur onto my foam base. After she was furred I added the details I made eyes out of simple craft foam. I made her nose, teeth, and paws out of sculpty clay. I then made a tail and hand paw pattern out of paper I used these as patterns and simply cut the shape out of the fur. I hand stitched the tail and paws myself. For my halloween themed dress I found more than a yard of fabric at savers for 5 bucks! I then followed a YouTube tutorial and cut out all the patterns and cut the fabric I needed. My girlfriend then helped me machine sow the dress. I've never dealt with a sewing machine. I'm extremely clumsy so I didn't want to sew my fingers together. After all the main pieces were finished I was able to make my smaller accessories including the pumpkin pail bow so it would match my dress. I also made a simple orange tutu to make the dress puff out cuter! Overall I'm very proud of my costume it took a lot of time and stress but it was well worth it. Being able to bring your own design come to life is the biggest reward for me.
