Oompa Lumpa and Willy Wonka Costume

This is my chihuahua Fergie in another handmade by me costume. This was one of my favorite movies starring the great Gene Wilder. Seemed like a fitting tribute since he just passed away. She wore this costume at our local Bark at the Park event in my town. She is an Oompa Lumpa from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory movie. I just altered one of Fergie's jammie patterns to make the main outfit. I added the suspenders and painted the buttons to match. I also handpainted the stripes on the collar. The most difficult part was the wig. I cut green yarn and tied it to create wefts that I then used a dog slicker brush to comb out. It brushes out with some work. At this point, it resembles my hair when I visit Florida. A fuzzy mess! Lol. I then used my hair straightening flat iron on it. After that process, I am left with long rows of silky straight hair to sew onto a cap I made from felt. It is held on with elastic ties under her chin. I got her "eyebrows" from the store. They were actually a green moustache that I just cut and shaped into brows. They have adhesive backing which stuck right on her, and came off very easy with no discomfort to Fergie.
